The Best DIY Umrah Packages Done for You

Welcome to DIY Umrah Packages. I know that preparing for an Umrah is stressful for a lot of people, especially first-timers.

So, since many people asked for it, I made DIY Umrah packages for every month of the year. This is to help people understand the process, compare prices with Umrah agents, and figure out which option is best and cheapest for them.

Even though my book DIY Umrah – Plan your Ramadan Umrah packages like a Pro can help you plan one of the cheapest Umrah's possible, I take your questions seriously, and you always ask for examples of "done for you packages."

Each month is listed in the table below. You can book as you see them if the dates work for you, or you can use the steps to plan your own trip and use this as a guide.

Please note that these prices for Umrah packages are only cash prices. My book has tips on how to travel for less money.

Even though the savings can be big, not everyone wants to save and earn points or learn how to manage and book awards to save money on their vacation or Umrah.

If you want to learn more about how to use loyalty points to save up for Umrah or a dream vacation, you can check out the book.

How the DIY Umrah Packages work

We'll set them up with flights from London, Manchester, and New York, which our readers say are their favorite cities. As we go on, depending on what you need, I might also be able to find people from other cities, so send me a message below.

You can, of course, follow the same example below: look for your own flights from where you live and then book hotels using the links below.

Umrah packages are set up so that one 10-day Umrah package with the cheapest flight options is available each month. The prices and accommodations are for two people. Remember that kids often sleep in the same bed as their parents. I'll tell you how to save money, and you can figure out when you want to fly on your own.

I know that most people stay in Medina longer, which is why there are two options.

You can make your Umrah longer if you want to. This is an example of a DIY Umrah package that can be changed and is cheap.

The links in the post give us a small commission, which doesn't cost you anything extra. If you book through them, it helps the blog. So, thank you for reading and making a difference.

I will always tell my readers about the cheapest and best options, not the ones that give me the most commission, which I don't even keep track of.

How I plan my own Umrah package (do-it-yourself) The Visa is a travel document. How Do Hotels Get Around?

#1 Saudi Tourist Visa

You can do Umrah and travel around Saudi Arabia with a tourist visa. It is the easiest and cheapest way to get to Saudi Arabia for Umrah, and I have a whole post with updates for you.

Check out this article for a step-by-step guide to the Saudi tourist visa and everything you need to know about it.

The price of the visa is about £120, depending on the exchange rate.

#2 Umrah flights to Saudi Arabia

The websites I use most to book travel are listed in my resources, but I can tell you that I always start with Google Flights and then use Skyscanner to check and book.

Both sites don't always show all prices, and booking a flight through Skyscanner is usually the cheapest way to do it.

I use both of them because I can quickly see what's available each month.

People have trouble finding deals because flight prices are crazy and airports are full. Flight prices have gone through the roof, and they are always more expensive during school breaks and busy travel times. I book early and save money by using points.

Many people, especially parents with school-aged kids, can't always do it, but if you're on a tight budget, you can save a lot of money by being flexible or shortening the number of days you stay.

If you can't find the cheapest flights, try open jaw tickets, which let you leave from one airport and leave from another. This could help you save money on your Umrah flights.

You can also look for flights to Madinah that leave from Makkah, which is what I always recommend.

#3 Hotels in Makkah & Madinah

People always ask me about the hotels in Makkah and Medinah because there are so many of them.

Here, you can read about the hotels I like best in Makkah and the cheap hotels in both cities.

When choosing a hotel, you should always think about your budget and how much you want to walk, especially if you have small children or older people with you, and then choose the best option.

At the time this post was written, the best prices were at the hotels and websites I list here. They are also places where I would or have stayed with my family.

Some reviews of hotels can be found here.

I usually book hotels directly with the hotel, especially if I'm an elite member and get free breakfast, free upgrades, and access to the lounge. As well as points you can use to get more free nights. There's more about these things in my book.

But here we're talking about cash options, and I sometimes book with cash. I use Hotels.com almost all of the time because if I stay there for 10 nights, I get a free night.

You'll get 10% back if you go on Umrah for 10 days and book all of your nights through Hotels.com. You'll get a voucher for this free night that is equal to the average amount you spent on your nights. For instance, if each of your nights costs $100, the vouches will also cost $100. (less than the taxes of that country).

I don't use booking because I'd rather get a discount and because the prices on most sites in the same group are very close.

#4 Getting around The Haramain train is new, quick, safe, reliable, and comfortable.

It's the best way to get from one city to the other. Here's the review and all the other information you need about the train.

I've taken a taxi from Makkah to Medina, and it was hard and took a long time. It's possible, but I haven't even thought about it since the train came.

It might be the best choice if you have a big family, and it's easy to find taxis and agree on a price to take you there.

You can also take a VIP Saptco bus, which is roomy and comfortable and gives you a snack. If I had to choose, I would go with the train first and then the VIP coach second.

I'll list each type of transportation and how much it costs below so you can see the whole DIY Umrah package. Again, this is just a guide. You can always go there in a different way.

If you arrive in Jeddah and want to go straight to Medinah, the easiest and most convenient way is to take a taxi, which you can get at the terminal and pay for at the taxi counter. Once you leave the area where you get your bags, it's easy to find and follow the signs.

Choices for getting around

Use Careem, Taxi, or Uber. The train costs 135SAR/£30 to go to or from Makkah. Taxi from Jeddah to Makkah 190-270SAR / £35 -£60 A taxi costs 25SAR, or £5, to get from Medinah Airport to Masjid or from the train station to Masjid. From the train station in Makkah to Haram, it costs 30 SAR, or about £7, to take a taxi. There is a free bus from Makkah's train station to the Haram.

DIY Umrah Packages September

Here's what you need to know about the DIY Umrah Packages for September 2022.

At the time this was written, the links below worked. They are affiliate links, but as I already said, you don't pay more and we get a commission. But the sites I recommend give you free nights and points.

Skyscanner is usually one of the best places to find cheap flights, and Hotels.com gives you a free night after you stay there for 10 nights. So, if you book both hotels for 10 days through the links below, which is the DIY Umrah package, you'll get a coupon for 10% off your next stay.

As I said above, these Umrah packages are flexible and include everything you need. If God wills, you can mix and match them.

What I Would Pick for a Do-It-Yourself Umrah Package in September 2023

I would choose the flights from London to Mecca with an open-jaw return to London for $495 and the Intercon Dar al-Hijra for $381 for two people because it is near the mosque even though it is older.

The Pullman Makkah, which costs £483 and is close to the Clock Tower, would be my choice in Makkah. I would choose the Swisshotel instead if I had more money.

The whole DIY Umrah Package for two people in September would cost me about $2,164. This would include travel and a visa.

DIY Packages for Umrah in October Here are the best Umrah packages for October 2022 that I've found. Again, I would book some of these things for my family.

Please read the information above to learn how I think and what advice I give.

What I Would Pick for a Do-It-Yourself Umrah Package in October 2022 Based on the prices above, I would choose this for Umrah in October. Since everyone is out of school in October, prices reflect that.

I would take the flight from London to Medina, which costs £508 per person, and then fly from Medina to Jeddah and back to London. This would help me save money on travel costs. I would pick Shahd Al Medinah because it is cheap and close to the mosque where the Prophet is buried. It costs £363 for two people. Your stay will be free if you have a small child with you.

I would choose the Swisshotel in Makkah because it is in the Clock Tower and close to everything. I like the Jabal Omar development better, but it's too expensive for me to live there. For two people, the price is £765.

For two people, the total cost is £2,539, which includes visas, travel, and a 5-star hotel. This is a good deal for a 5-star hotel during high season.
